UPA will not last its full term: Venkaiah

Special Correspondent

Kochi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu has said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre will not last its full term in view of the mounting discontentment among the people towards various policies of the government.

At a press conference here on Saturday, the BJP vice-president said that parliamentary elections would be held in 2008 and not in 2009.

“There is mounting displeasure against the UPA government,” the BJP leader . said.

Mr. Naidu alleged that the UPA government had failed to check the unprecedented price rice of various commodities and to solve the agrarian crisis and also the growing unemployment problem. The terrorist menace was also on the increase. So, “the government cannot sustain for long,” he said.

The BJP leader said, “the Janata Dal (Secular) will be wiped out from the political map of Karnataka for the treacherous role played by them.”
