‘He had no right to submit the report after Assembly was dissolved’ BANGALORE: The former MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao has refuted observations of A.T. Ramaswamy, Chairman of the Joint Legislature Committee on the Encroachment of Government Lands in and around Bangalore, on the lands belonging to him, his mother and brothers. Mr. Rao told presspersons here on Saturday that the properties in question were situated at Navarathna Agrahara, Jala hobli, in Bangalore North bearing survey number 3 and 13 measuring 8.07 acres and 48 acres. The property was purchased by the family in 1983. The property was now inherited by his mother, brothers and himself. Although there was no question of encroachment, the committee had falsely stated that the property in question was encroached by him and other members of in the family, he said. Mr. Ramaswamy had no right to submit the final report to the Governor in the capacity of the Chairman of the Joint House Committee after the dissolution of the Assembly. “What Mr. Ramaswamy has done is sheer abuse of power,” he said. He would initiate legal action against Mr. Ramaswmy, he said. He alleged that some officials held a meeting with Mr. Ramaswamy only to discuss the final report despite knowing that the House had been dissolved. He would draw the attention of the Governor to the whole affair and request him to take action against all those concerned. Vested interests in the committee had released its “final report” to the media with mala fide intentions, he alleged.
