Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has disbursed 1.47 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and 36,084 metric tonnes of rice to 8.30 lakh beneficiaries belonging to Below Poverty Line families and “Antyodaya Ann Yojna” families so far on subsidised rates. Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said the government was providing quality wheat and rice at highly subsidised rates to these families through a network of 9,568 fair price shops in the State. He said wheat was being made available at Rs.4.84 per kg and rice at Rs.6.40 per kg for the BPL families and at Rs.2.10 per kg to Antyodaya families. Each BPL family is entitled to 25 kg of wheat and 10 kg of rice, while under the AAY scheme the beneficiaries are entitled to 35 kg of wheat per month. Sugar was also being provided at Rs. 13.50 per kg. “Directions have been given to the Food and Supplies Department to ensure that wheat and rice reach all fair price shops before the 10th of every month,” hesaid. — PTI
