Hostellers give up protest
Staff Reporter
TIRUNELVELI: A protest by girl students of Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, came to an end on Saturday afternoon after the Minister for Environment and Sports and Palayamkottai MLA, T.P.M. Maideen Khan, assured them of more basic amenities soon in their hostel. Since Public Works Department officials refused to give any assurance to the agitating students on ensuring the supply of adequate quantity of water, the girls continued their protest till 11.30 p.m. on Friday.
However, they gave up the agitation following the assurance from the Tirunelveli Corporation Commissioner, T. Mohan.
