JAIPUR: Rajasthan on Saturday announced its IT & ITES Policy-2007, updating and revising its previous policy dating back to the year 2000, to make Information and Communication Technology (ICT) a tool for improving governance and promote economic development through investments in the sector. The document, which provides various incentives to the IT and ITES units, was released by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the presence of NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik and Mohandas Pai of Infosys Technologies on the occasion of the two-day investors’ conference, “Resurgent Rajasthan”. “The policy is introduced at a time when Rajasthan is getting recognition as an ideal investment destination. The IT sector has been one of the focus areas of my Government,” said Ms. Raje, already in an elated mood following the good response she received from investors the previous day. Ms. Raje also laid the foundation of the new IT building for Rajasthan.Highlighting the salient features of the new policy, Chief Secretary D.C. Samant and Principal Secretary IT, C.K. Mathew said the policy was aimed at making the Government more accessible to the citizens, creating economic opportunities as well as employment opportunities.
