JAIPUR: Memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs.3,000 crore were signed on the second day of the “Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit” here on Saturday, with the investors evincing a keen interest in a wide array of key sectors with a tremendous growth potential. About 200 investors from India and abroad signed the MoUs after wide-ranging discussions with Industries Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi and Minister of State for Energy Gajendra Singh. Investment of Rs.1.58 lakh croreMr. Rajvi said proposals relating to non-conventional energy sources, urban development, tourism, agriculture, technical education and higher education sectors were discussed during the interaction with entrepreneurs. With a total of 269 MoUs signed during the two-day summit, Rs.1.58 lakh crore is likely to be invested in the desert State. Mr. Rajvi claimed that the strengthening of infrastructure facilities had created better opportunities for investment and promised that the State Government would provide all possible support to investors. Mr. Gajendra Singh told the potential investors that the power sector reforms had brought about a significant improvement in the power scenario, while the ongoing feeder reform programme had improved the quality of electricity. Through an MoU signed with the Department of Economic Affairs of the Union Finance Ministry, the State Government will participate in the Asian Development Bank’s Technical Assistance Project for mainstreaming of public-private partnership. The major components of the project include capacity development, institutionalisation of PPP skills, development of a managerial information system, knowledge dissemination and awareness of international best practices.
