National track cycling

Hyderabad: The National track cycling championships will be held at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Velodrome, Osmania University from December 3 to 8.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Cycling Federation of India (CFI) Treasurer, Ramprasad Srivastava and Organising Secretary Durga Prasad Dixit said about 500 cyclists, representing four departmental teams, viz; Indian Railways, Punjab Police, Services and BSNL in addition to 21 State teams, were in the fray.

Estimated to cost Rs. 16 lakh, the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Cycling Federation of India, SAAP, Fire Fox Trek are extending financial assistance. The Andhra Pradesh Cycling Association (APCA), host of the six-day meet, will provide free board, lodging and transport. Sambhani Chandrashekar, AP Minister for Health and Family Welfare, as chief guest will inaugurate the meet on the opening day at 10 a.m. — Principal Correspondent
