Helen Keller awards to be presented today

NEW DELHI: The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People-Shell Helen Keller Awards-2007 will be presented at a function at India International Centre here on Sunday.
Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar will hand over the awards to the winners on the eve of World Disability Day.
Introduced in 1999 to honour individuals and companies who care for differently-abled people to see that they get equal opportunities at their workplace, the Helen Keller awards are also presented to physically challenged persons who overcome their handicap and make their presence felt in society. This year, Raghunatha Reddy and V. Janaki of Andhra Pradesh, Shahul Hameed of Puducherry and Javed Ahmad Tak of Jammu and Kashmir will be awarded.
