To help industry tap the export potential 200 units to come up in three foundry parks COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association (COINDIA) plans to commission this month the infrastructure facilities created for the foundries and pumpset manufacturing units here. The Rs. 60-crore project for the foundry and pumpset cluster is taken up under the Central Government’s Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme and is expected to benefit nearly 1,500 units. G. Rajendran, the association President, told The Hindu that almost 90 per cent of the works had been completed. The foundries, pumpset manufacturers and general engineering industries here, especially the tiny and small-scale units, would have a host of infrastructure facilities equipped with the state-of-the-art machinery. These facilities would be helpful in creating component prototypes, testing products and training workers and technical personnel, the association President said. The project was started in 2005 with assistance from the Central and State governments. The project aimed at helping the units tap the export potential and scale up from tiny to small-scale or from small-scale to medium units.Nearly 200 units would come up at the three foundry parks created under the project.
