FINANCIAL INCLUSION: RBI Regional Director F.R. Joseph presents copies of a Tamil comic on basic banking to the bank’s General Manager Madhavi Sharma and General Manager (Administration) R.K. Chari in Chennai on Friday.
Chennai: Prizewinners of an essay contest on banking organised by the Reserve Bank of India gathered at the regional headquarters in Chennai for the awards ceremony on Friday.
Many of the winners had come from rural parts of the State. V. Srimathi, a student of Panchayat Union Middle School in Ayeegoundanpalayam in Perundurai (Erode district), won a prize in the junior-level English essay contest. When the RBI sent out invitations to the awards ceremony, it had a tough time reaching Srimathi.
RBI Regional Director F.R. Joseph urged the prize winners to tell their friends about the importance of having a bank account. He urged them to take up higher studies in management, commerce and economics so that they could become bank managers one day. He also released a Tamil comic on basic banking that would help to promote financial awareness.
