They alleged that negligence of doctors had caused the death of a person Chitradurga: An irate mob went on the rampage here on Sunday and broke several window panes of the Basaveshwara hospital, in protest against the death a person, allegedly owing to medical negligence. Relatives of Nallappa (65), who was brought here on the recommendation of the Patanjali hospital, said that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. Babu, the son of Mr. Nallappa, said that they had brought him to the hospital at around 2 p.m., but hospital authorities were not responsive. “They made us wait anxiously, as we tried to contact the doctors, but to no avail,” he said. ‘No doctors’He also said that there were no doctors, but only two nursing staff on duty, who attended to the patient. Although the police arrived later, they did not arrest anyone since the hospital did not file any case. Meanwhile, hospital staff while refuting charges of negligence, said that the patient was brought in at 3.15 p.m. and was given the necessary medical help, despite which he was gradually losing pulse, resulting in his death. When the police asked for the doctor on duty, the nursing staff said that on hearing the commotion outside, he had fled the scene. However, the doctor was not available for comment.
