More wagons sought for transporting rice

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran has written to Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad urging him to sanction enough wagons for movement of rice and other commodities to Kerala from other States.

In a fax message to the Union Minister, the Food Minister said that arrival of essential commodities in the State had dropped because of shortage of wagons.

This was when the prices tended to go up in the country, especially in Kerala, the message said.
