Sonia birthday to be celebrated as public awareness day

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee on Sunday said the birthday of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi would be celebrated on December 9 as public awareness day, for which the TNCC appointed district-level coordinators.
A statement issued by the TNCC president M. Krishnasswamy said publicity material on several programmes implemented by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government would be circulated and the coordinators would take part in the celebrations.
H. Vasanthakumar, Arul Anbarasu, Rani Venkatesan and Vidiyal S. Sekar, all Members of the Legislative Assembly, would be the coordinators for the party units of Tiruneveli (west), Vellore (west), Erode (north) and Tiruvannamalai (south), the release said.
In a separate statement, G.K. Vasan, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, said he would participate in a meeting to be organised by the Central Chennai district unit to mark the birthday of the Congress president.
