Letters to the Editor
The editorial, ‘LTTE supremo’s plaint’ (Dec. 1), reflects the mindset of the terrorist outfit. The LTTE has been guilty of missing quite a few opportunities to settle the ethnic issue. By remaining adamant, it has proved that it does not want a solution within the framework of Sri Lanka’s constitution. At least now the Tigers should forthwith stop all terrorist activities and try for a political settlement without vivisecting their motherland. N. Nageswaran, Chennai
The sane counsel to the LTTE supremo could not have come at a better time. That the way to resolve the Tamil question can only be found through negotiations and not military means has to be understood by V. Prabakaran if he wants to salvage some pride and change international opinion. But the realities on the ground do not indicate any change in his mindset. The message is also an indirect pointer to the local parties to change their stance. Lt. Col. R.V.S. Mani (retd.), Madurai
You have rightly pointed out that the Tamil question in Sri Lanka cannot be resolved as long as Mr. Prabakaran is the LTTE supremo. Some vested interests in Tamil Nadu are trying to create the myth that the LTTE is the true representative of Sri Lankan Tamils. What can you say about a fascist organisation which ruthlessly kills people expressing dissenting views? Nirmala Asokan, Cuddalore
