World leaders to discuss steps to save planet

BALI (Indonesia): World leaders launch marathon negotiations on Monday on how to fight global warming, which left unchecked, could cause devastating sea level rises, send millions further into poverty and lead to the mass extinction of plants and animals.

Delegates from 190 nations will attend what has been billed as one of the largest environmental conferences ever, bringing more than 10,000 people to the Indonesian resort island of Bali, from Hollywood stars and Nobel laureates to fishermen and drought-stricken farmers. — AP
