Bangalore women lift title

TIRUCHI: Bangalore defeated Haridwar 3-0 to win the women’s team title in the all-India BHEL inter-unit table tennis tournament here on Sunday.

Semifinals: Delhi bt Haridwar 3-0 (Brij Mohan bt Suresh Anand 11-4, 11-6, 11-5; J.P. Bagla bt A.K. Atul Kumar Saxena 11-5, 11-7, 11-6; Rajesh Khanna bt M.S. Patwal 11-3, 11-8, 11-4).

Bhopal bt Tiruchi 3-1 (J.L. Masand lost to S. Kumaran 9-11, 13-11, 2-11, 13-11, 8-11; Mukesh Muravi bt S. Saravanan 11-4, 11-8, 11-7; M.P. Deshpande bt N. Natarajan 4-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8; Mukesh Muravi bt S. Kumaran 11-4, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8).

Women:

Prabhakaran triumphs

D. Prabhakaran, with seven points from as many rounds, won the title in open category at the chess tournament conducted by 4 Knights Chess Academy here on Sunday.
