Plea to delete tough lessons from subjects
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: The district wing of the Tamil Nadu Graduate Teachers’ Association has urged the State Government to delete a few lessons in science and mathematics subjects prescribed for Standard X (SSLC), which are found to be difficult to comprehend by students.
Very hard
A resolution, adopted at its executive meeting held here on Sunday, said that a few lessons in these subjects were so ‘tough’ that many students developed a sense of depression. The association had already brought to the notice of the Education Department, the need for deletion of these lessons.
Another resolution wanted regularisation of services of teachers recruited by the Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Recruitment Board, with retrospective effect from their date of joining duty on consolidated pay basis.
It also sought similar regularisation of services of teachers appointed on consolidated pay scale by the Directorate of School Education from 1987 to 1989. Resolutions pleading for special pay for Block Resource Teachers handling classes on Saturdays also adopted. The district president of the association Sami. Sathiamoorthy, who presided over the meeting, said that the members of the association would launch an agitation here on December 11 in support of these demands.
