CUTTACK: Even after more that 24 hours of the reported looting of Rs. 14 lakhs from BSNL cashier Sukant Mohanty, the police are yet to make any headway in tracing the culprits or solve the reported ‘firing’ theory till Sunday evening. But the district SP is hopeful that the culprits would be apprehended within a day or two. “I am thoroughly satisfied with the progress made till now in investigation of the case. The probe is being made in right direction and within a day or two we would be able to solve the case,” said the SP. S.K. Priyadarshi. The robbery was carried out meticulously and the modus operandi was done with precision. “We are also investigating the case carefully and I am sure the culprits would be booked soon,” he said. Meanwhile, investigating inspector Ajay Mandal of Purighat police station indicated that some local anti-socials were behind the robbery. They, were, however, now absconding although we made a few raids at their possible hideouts on Saturday night, Mr. Mandal said. Some unidentified youths looted Rs. 13.92 lakh on Saturday afternoon from Mohanty while he along with his associate were going to deposit the cash in a bank in a private taxi.
