BJP to take SEZ issue to human rights panel

‘Notices sent to assignees who were cultivating it from years’

SANGAREDDY: Bharatiya Janata Party and Telanagana Rastra Samithi leaders have promised justice to the farmers of three villages in Gajwel mandal on Sunday that were earmarked for Special Economic Zone.

BJP state president Bandaru Dattatreya who visited Mutrazpalli, Lingapur and Sangapur later told reporters that his

party would take the farmers to the State Human Rights Commission for justice.

He said that notices were sent to assignees of the government land who were cultivating it from years. In all 625 acres were required for the SEZ.

Dattatreya also said that he would meet the Chief Minister and appraise him of the situation in the villages.

He assured farmers that his party would stay with them in their struggle for their land.

Villages visited

TRS legislators Padma Devender Reddy, Ramalinga Reddy and party district president M.Raghunandan Rao also visited the villages and spoke with the assignees.

The farmers told them the notices have mentioned that no compensation would be paid because of the nature of the ownership.

TRS leaders announced that they would organise a dharna in front of the Collector’s office on Monday being a ‘durbar’ day.

TRS said that it would agitate against handing over agricultural land to SEZs.
