Courses on HIV at IGNOU soon

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University has announced that it will soon launch several academic programmes on “HIV and Family Education”. These announcements were made by the University authorities at a seminar on “Social Work and HIV/AIDS” held over the weekend to observe World AIDS Day on the campus.
The Union Human Resource Development Ministry and UNICEF are collaborating with IGNOU in launching courses on HIV/AIDS and Adolescence and Family Education that will be made compulsory for all the B. Ed students from 2008, said an official release. IGNOU will also launch a Master’s programme in Social Work and a Diploma in HIV/AIDS and Family Education beginning next year. Also, some more optional courses on HIV/AIDS, family life education and substance abuse will be on offer from 2008.
