MOODBIDRI: “Alva’s Nudisiri”, a three-day conference on Kannada literature and culture, organised by Alva’s Education Foundation, concluded here on Sunday with senior litterateurs sounding an alarm that Kannada culture and literature could be sustained only if people used Kannada in day-to-day life with pride. Chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission M. Veerappa Moily said that Information Technology companies of Bangalore had not done little for the development of software in Kannada. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, conferred “Alva’s Nudisiri Award” on ten people. The award carried Rs. 5,000 in cash, a memento, and a citation. The award winners are: Mattur Krishnamurthy (promotion of Kannada culture); Aa.Ra. Mitra, Prema Bhat (literature); K.S. Ashwath (films); M.B. Singh (journalism); B.M. Idinabba (Kannada movement); P.S. Shankar (medical literature); Kutpadi Ananda Ganiga (theatre); Sunitha Shetty (promotion of Kannda); and Karnur Koragappa Rai (Yakshagana).
