Seven Sri Lankan Tamils detained

TAMBARAM: The Pallikaranai police have detained seven Sri Lankan Tamils on charges of possessing forged passport, travel documents, Immigration seals and a huge amount of cash.
Police said that they had got a tip-off about suspicious activities by a group of men in Sithalapakkam village near Tambaram. A police team knocked at the door of a house, which was bolted from inside. Armed policemen asked the men to surrender and then they emerged out of the house.
Apart from the Sri Lankan Tamils, the police also arrested the house-owner and a car driver used by them. The car
and Rs. 3.4 lakh in cash were also seized from them.
Further investigations are on to ascertain how the men came to Chennai, their purpose of stay and how they managed to obtain the fake Immigration seals and the forged documents.
