TUMKUR: Sri Siddaganga Math, near here, has taken exception to a statement by former Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy against interference of Lingayat swamis in politics. Secretary of the Old Boys’ Association of the math, K.H. Shivarudraiah, told presspersons here on Saturday that the math did not require to learn secularism from Mr. Kumaraswamy. He said the math threw open its doors to students from all castes and communities as early as in 1917. He said Shivakumara Swamy of the math had been blessing every political leader that turned to him for "spiritual" guidance. “At no point of time did the seer indulge in giving political advice to anyone,” he said. — Staff Correspondent
