Research project
CHENNAI: The Indian Council of Medical Research will fund a research project to develop new cell therapies and provide cost-effective and animal protein-free solutions to wound healing in patients after scalds and severe burns.
ICMR has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine, an Indo-Japanese joint venture institute based in Chennai, to collaborate on the three-year project to study the protective and regenerative capabilities of polymer hydrogel scaffolds, which could help in the formation of skin cell cultures without any animal proteins. — Special Correspondent
