Dilapidated by-lanes

While efforts are on to repair main roads across the State, many by-lanes in the city are not being repaired. A good example is the busy Pulimood-Gandhari Amman Coil road. To make matters worse is the clogged drainage on its side. Moreover at many places in the city, one can see metal heaps along the roadsides causing immense hardship to pedestrians and motorists. Will the authorities look into these issues?

An odd practice

It has become a practice of the Railways to detain Vanchinad Express under the Uppidammoodu Bridge at least for half an hour every morning before it is cleared to enter the Thiruvananthapuram Central station. Commuters, mostly office-goers, are stranded on the train as it is very difficult to alight at this point. The result is that they are always late to the offices. Passengers from Chirayinkeezhu and Kadakkavoor mainly depend on Jayanti Janata Express and Vanchinad Express for reaching the city. Invariably Jayanti Janata is crowded. So they wait for Vanchinad Express. One solution is to sanction stops for Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express at these stations.

Laudable effort

The efforts of the City Corporation, the State Bank of Travancore and Chelsa Hospital to beautify the Poojappura Round Park is laudable. Now children, their parents and many senior citizens find it an ideal place to unwind every evening. However, the concrete benches provided in the park are not sufficient. Will the authorities take steps to install more benches ?
