ABB to invest $100 m more in India

BANGALORE: ABB, the international power systems major, will invest an additional $100 million in India and increase its headcount from the present 6,000 to 10,000 over the next two to three years, Group Chairman, Hubertus von Grunberg, told reporters here on Monday.
The India expansion plans include a greenfield facility at Nelamangala near Bangalore to make low voltage products and power electronics. It will also start making 765 kV equipment.
ABB India Chairman, Ravi Uppal, said for the nine months ending September 2007, cumulative revenues were Rs. 4,136.60 crore, a growth of 42 per cent, and the net profit after tax rose by 51 per cent to Rs. 310.90 crore.”
