The concern expressed by India over the treatment of Malaysian Tamils and the retort by Malaysia are deplorable. India has violated the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. As Malaysia has correctly said, it is an internal problem and the way it treats its citizens is of no concern to us. Would we tolerate the Malaysian government commenting on Nandigram or the Gujarat riots? C. Anandasubramanian, Pune Siddiq Ahmed, Bangalore India cannot be a silent spectator to the step-motherly treatment meted out to the Tamils abroad.
