Letters to the Editor
The controversy over the lyrics in the title song of the Hindi movie Aaja Nachle is unfortunate. While the weaver changes raw threads into beautiful clothes, the carpenter makes lovely furniture from the log and the goldsmith makes ornaments, the cobbler makes shoes from leather. All the artisans with their deft hands and skills change raw materials into fine pieces of goods. Both the cobbler and the jeweller belong to the working community. It is society with its narrow outlook that distinguishes between them. If we read between the lines and raise a hue and cry over everything, nothing can be written or spoken. All our great literary works and epics will have to be banned. S. Nallasivan, Tirunelveli
