‘Deal taken at highest level’
Gangtok: Defence Minister A. K. Antony on Monday said the government was trying to settle the issue of acquisition of Russian aircraft carrier Gorshkov at the highest level.
“There are some problems. We are trying to settle that at the highest level of the Russian government,” he told presspersons here when asked about reports that Russia was demanding more money and one more year to complete the project.
The Defence Minister, however, did not clarify the nature of the problem.
The Rs. 7,000-crore deal aircraft carrier was signed in January 2004. The delivery schedule was 2008. — PTI
