dated December 4, 1957: Tribute to free India

A tribute to the achievements of free India was paid by Mr. E. J. B. Rose, Director of the International Press Institute, at a reception held in Madras in honour of the International Press delegation, and Mr. C. R. Srinivasan, Editor, Swadesamitran, and Chairman of the Indian section of the International Press Institute, welcomed the visiting editors. He said that although the institute was in existence for less than a decade, it had to its credit “a large volume of valuable work.” The Press would have justified itself in the new context if it would do its duty in gathering the news, providing the necessary background for it and creating a wide range of knowledge and experience, he added.
