Sugarcane farmers launch dharna

BIDAR: Sugarcane farmers of Bidar district launched a dharna on Monday in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, Bidar, demanding fixation of suitable price for sugarcane, among others.

The farmers are seeking payment of money for sugarcane supplied to sugar factories, compensation for uncrushed sugarcane, cancellation of conditions imposed by sugar factories and the immediate release of the balance amount under interest loan waiver of Rs. 25,000 announced by the Government.

Prior to the dharna, the farmer leaders assembled at Ganesh Maidan and held a meeting.
