Mallu Ravi criticises TDP leaders

Special Correspondent

‘K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao is discharging his official duties’

‘Yet another mud-slinging attempt on YSR, his associates’

HYDERABAD: The Congress has criticised Telugu Desam Party leaders for their allegation that the Government’s advisor on Public Affairs K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao is acting as an ‘extra-constitutional authority’ and for alleging that his actions are resulting in loss to the State exchequer.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, State Government’s special representative in Delhi Mallu Ravi ridiculed the TDP leaders for “forgetting” that Dr. Rao was given the official designation of advisor with Cabinet rank. And, that he is discharging his duties by effectively interacting with people at grass root level and communicating their problems to the Government.

He recalled as to how TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu “used to wield powers as an extra-Constitutional authority” when N.T. Rama Rao was Chief Minister though he had no official designation. “The statement against Dr. Rao is yet another attempt of the TDP to indulge in mud-slinging against Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his associates,” he said. Replying to queries on the indictment of the Government by the CAG , he said the designs and estimates of the projects were being changed at different levels to bring more ayacut under irrigation and the CAG might not be aware of them.
