Rahul writes to Mayawati

NEW DELHI: Congress member of Parliament from Amethi Rahul Gandhi urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to withdraw a recent decision to impose VAT on traditional leather in the State.

In a letter written to Ms. Mayawati, the Congress general secretary said the Agra Shoe Federation had been protesting the decision for the last two weeks without any response from the government.
