BANGALORE: A drive through the city’s roads, it is clear that Bangaloreans have never had a love affair with the public transport system. The city then becomes an obvious choice for an awesome display of cars and bikes of all gears and models. So at South India’s biggest indoor automobile exposition, Vaahan Yatra, to be held at KTPO Bangalore Trade Centre from December 5 to 9, lovers of mean, sleek machines can feast their eyes on beauties of various hues and colours. Organised by Yatra Exhibits, the expo is back for the sixth time in the city and on display will be many new entrants. Yamaha R1 will make its first “legal” appearance and bookings for it will open officially for the first time in the country at “Vaahan Yatra”. For those with the moolah to drive around in fancy cars, Scorpio 2008, apparently the largest selling mid-size SUV, will also be up for bookings for the first time. British made bicycles-Strida and Firefox- Rs. 10,000 and above, will be making their first foray into the country. But if you simply want to soak in the sights, you also have Alto Spice from the Maruti Suzuki, i10 from Hyundai, Passat from the Volkswagen, Tata Dicor and Fiat from Tata Motors, Reva I from the electric car company, apart from cars specially designed and flown in from different parts of the world for the show. Yamaha R6, Honda Cruiser, Hayabusa and mini sports bikes are also on display for young bike aficionados. If you want to remodel the interiors of your car along the luxurious lines of Lamborghini, Porsche or Ferrari, options at the fair are plenty, so says a release. International brands such as JBL, Soundstream, JL Audio, Boston Accoustics, Sony, Blaupunkt will also make their presence with their audio systems ranging between Rs. 5,000 and a few lakhs. You can also bring in your bike and have it customised with readymade modification kits.
