PUDUCHERRY: Leader of Pattali Makkal Katchi in Parliament M. Ramadass on Tuesday urged the government of India to evolve a deep-sea policy keeping in mind the interests of Indian fishermen. In a press release here, he said the Charter policy of 1981 was abandoned in 1998 and no deep-sea policy had been evolved till date. About 150 deep-sea vessels were operating in the Exclusive Economic Zone in the name of joint ventures and urged the government to initiate steps to help the Indian deep-sea trawlers to diversify.
