It will provide a forum for professionals to interact with experts from elsewhere There will be an oration lecture on recurrent pregnancy loss Manipal: The Kasturba Medical College (KMC), in association with the Manipal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society, will organise an International Congress on Controversies in Management of Advanced Reproductive Care (IC-MARC - 2007) here from December 7 to December 9. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Head of the Department of Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre (MARC) and Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) at KMC, Pratap Kumar said that infertility was a problem all over the world and it involved almost 10 per cent of the population which was a large number in the country. The MARC had been doing commendable work in the field since many years and it had assisted childless couples beget children through the test tube method. MARC had successfully treated many women and had prevented them from having pregnancy loss with all the recent advances in investigation and management. He said the congress would provide a forum for professionals to interact with fellow colleagues across the globe through platform presentations and simultaneously expose the current trends in the rapidly growing field of reproductive medicine, through plenary and invited keynote lectures by distinguished national and international medical experts. The meet will facilitate interaction of clinic experts and scientists in related disciplines to address and discuss the recent information, controversies, and future directions. It will include a pre-congress workshop on laparoscopic surgeries. There will be an oration lecture on recurrent pregnancy loss. The MARC had achieved success in egg donation programme, assisted reproductive medicine techniques such as intra uterine insemination, IVF and intra cytoplasmic sperm injection. Nearly 350 delegates from different parts of the country and abroad would participate in the congress. Experts in Advanced Reproductive Medicine from Greece, the U.K., Singapore, Spain and Israel would deliver lectures at the congress, Prof. Kumar said. Medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital B.H. Anand Rao and secretary of organising committee Rajesh Bhakta were present.
