Dream come true for Muslim brothers

Poonch: Two Muslim brothers of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, who met their Sikh family, termed their one month stay in Jammu and Kashmir as a dream come true.

Sardar Khan (74) and Mohammad Naseem Khan (62) had come to this side of the Line of Control in search of their Sikh family which separated from them in 1947.

“We never expected that we would ever get a chance to meet our Sikh family. Our mission is accomplished,” said 74-year-old Sardar Khan, who retired as a judicial official in Rawalakot district of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The story of the brothers, formerly of Sikh faith, is rooted in the communal conflagration of 1947.

Tribal raiders, sent by the then Chief Minister of North West Frontier Province Abdul Qayoom Khan, killed his father.

As their mother had gone missing the brothers were left alone. They met their family, including their cousins, many of whom they had never seen in their life.
