Chiranjeevi welcome to float a party: YSR

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has made light of the reports that noted film star Chiranjeevi is set to launch a new political party in the State next month. “He is welcome if he wants to launch a new political party,” he said. Replying to queries at a press conference here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister also downplayed the statements issued by leaders of backward classes and other sections seeking their share in power claiming that the demand “shows our strength” and the impact of welfare programmes we have launched,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party reacted in a guarded manner to reports about Mr. Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics. “We welcome it. After all, it is for public service,” said TDP leader Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao.
