VISAKHAPATNAM: The All India Railwaymen’s Federation has secured majority in 15 out of 16 Railway Zone in the country in the elections held to recognise the majority trade union, according to assistant general secretary of AIRF and general secretary of East Coast Railway Shramik Union (ECoRSU) Chalasani Gandhi here on Tuesday. The results of elections held from November 26 to 28 were announced on Monday. Employees of groups C and D were eligible to vote. He said that AIRF secured an overwhelming majority in the Northern, South East Central, North Central, East Central, South Western, Southern and North Eastern railway zones. Mr. Gandhi expressed his satisfaction over ECoRSU receiving support of majority of the railway employees in the East Coast zone. He regretted that railway trade unions tried to influence the voters with money, liquor and other inducements. He assured the railway employees that ECoRSU would renew its efforts in solving their problems. Mr. Gandhi arrived here from Bhubaneswar in the morning and later participated in a function organised by the operating wing in Marripalem. Divisional coordinator D. Shaleel and other leaders also spoke.
