Staff Reporter
TIRUPUR: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) town unit has requested the State Government to create a district with Tirupur as headquarters.
At a meeting of the party members, presided over by presidium chairman P. Venkatachalam, the DMK thanked the Government for upgrading Tirupur Municipality to a Corporation.
Better amenities
Exuding hopes that the elevation would help the residents to get better amenities on a par with other cities, the meeting asked the Government to create Tirupur district to ensure overall development and efficient administration there.
The Municipal Chairman, K. Selvaraj, among others spoke.
Conference
The meeting decided that a large number of youth should participate in the party’s youth wing conference to be held in Tirunelveli on February 15 and 16.
