Where does money come from?
Anil Kumar Sastry
BANGALORE: Even as the Bangalooru Habba offers a cultural extravaganza that gets bigger and better each year, how does it find the resources to keep the event going? While telecommunication giant Airtel has been the main sponsor of the 10-day event this year, several other corporate houses are sponsoring individual events.
Nandini Alva, one of the founder Trustees of AFFA told The Hindu that while the corporates who sponsor events will directly make payments to parties concerned, Artistes Foundation for the Arts only has to arrange payments for artistes, the venue, sound and lighting system.
The accounts are strictly audited and are available for scrutiny for general public, Ms. Alva noted. “Besides, we are also subject to scrutiny under income tax and service tax heads too,” she added.
