Helpline to rescue child labourers

TIRUVALLUR: Complaints of child labour in the district can be lodged by calling toll-free phone number – 1098, according to Collector Rajendra Kumar. A release issued by the District Labour Department said that a total of 41 children below the age of 14 years were rescued during an intensive raid conducted in the district between November 14 and 30.

A total of 492 places such as retail stores, hotels, cafeterias, automobile workshops and multi-storied residential complexes were inspected by the officials, it added.
