Belgaum: A large number of Anganwadi workers and women activists of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office opposing price rise and permission for foreign companies to operate in agricultural markets and small trading/marketing activities, here on Wednesday. The workers, who assembled at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Garden, marched to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, after staging a protest at the Rani Channamma Circle. Addressing the workers before submitting a memorandum to the Government, AITUC leader and CPI State Secretary A.R. Vijaykumar called upon the people, particularly industrial workers, to oppose globalisation.
