This Day That Age
The Transport and Communications Minister, Mr. Lal Bhahadur Shastri said in the Rajya Sabha on December 5 that the Government of India proposed to set up an Inter-State Road Transport Board to issue licenses for Inter-State Road Transport routes. Some of the States had accepted the government’s recommendations and special officers had been appointed to look after the planning and development side. The Government of India had also accepted the recommendation of the Transport Advisory Council for the setting up of an ad hoc committee to survey the existing arrangements of the road motor transport in the States.
