West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee deserves to be appreciated for his honest admission of a “political and administrative failure” in Nandigram. Usually our politicians, with a few rare exceptions, always try to cover up their faults or failures, find excuses, and search for scapegoats. It requires strength of mind and magnanimity to admit one’s mistake. Mr. Bhattacharjee has exhibited both these qualities. D. Samuel Lawrence, Madurai Mr. Bhattacharjee’s candidness really respects the sentiments of the people and it will definitely send positive signals across the State. It is the people’s approval that is essential for the execution of any projects. Mr. Bhattacharjee should promise the people of West Bengal that his government will undertake any project only after taking them into confidence.
