Easy for CMS

KOCHI: Leg-spinner V.S. Sunil took four wickets for 14 runs as CMS College, (Kottayam) drubbed defending champion Maharaja’s College (Ernakulam) by 107 runs in the Mahatma Gandhi University inter-zone cricket championship at the St. Paul’s College Ground, Kalamassery, on Wednesday.

In another match of the four-team league which will decide the winner, host St. Paul’s, riding on off-spinner Abdul Samath’s four-wicket haul and former State star Abhishek M. Hegde’s unbeaten 57, crushed St. Albert’s (Ernakulam) by seven wickets.

The scores: CMS 181 for eight in 25 overs (Ajay 50, Tariq Ahmed 72) bt Maharaja’s 74 in 17.3 overs (V.S. Sunil four for 13); St. Albert’s 125 for nine in 25 overs (Abdul Samath four for 26) lost to St. Paul’s 128 for three in 20.4 overs (Abhishek M. Hegde 57 n.o.). — Principal Correspondent
