Court orders attachment of bus
Staff Reporter
PERAMBALUR: District Principal and Sessions Judge S. Kalavathy on Wednesday ordered the attachment of a bus owned by the Kumbakonam division of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for having failed to disburse the compensation ordered to an accident victim.
Petitioner R. Chellaperumal (27) was injured when a bus going from Jayamkondam to Coimbatore rammed his house on December 12, 2000. He filed a petition praying for a directive to the Corporation to order compensation, with the Fast Track Court in Ariyalur. The court, in 2003, ordered the TNSTC to pay off Rs. 59,000 to Chellaperumal. As the Corporation failed to disburse the compensation, the youth filed an execution petition with the District Court.
The Judge recently ordered a compensation of Rs. 70,742, including the interest for the award by the Fast Track Court, Ariyalur.
As the Corporation failed to honour the order, the Judge ordered the attachment of a bus. The Court staff who went to the New bus stand, attached a bus and brought it to the court.
