NEW DELHI: To create public awareness about the importance of liver health, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals here organised a special event to celebrate Hepatitis Day on Tuesday. Director Medical Services at Apollo Hospital, Dr. Anupam Sibal, said: “The importance of the liver and its health cannot be adequately underscored. The liver plays a crucial role in all functions of the body and maintaining a healthy liver is of utmost importance. By observing this liver day, we want to create awareness among the young and old alike on the importance of the liver and how we all can keep this vital organ healthy. ” Also present on the occasion was Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande who inaugurated a helpline number for liver patients. “The initiative is an extension of Apollo Hospital’s community outreach programme and is part of our effort to mould a better future for this nation. We believe that by sharing information with school children we make them more aware of the importance of prevention and also inform their peers about Hepatitis and liver disease which are preventable,” said Apollo Hospital Managing Director Richard L. Larison.
