BSP leader accuses him of joining BJP for the sake of power

MYSORE: The district unit of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has criticised the decision of former district in-charge Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader G.T. Deve Gowda to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, unit president Azeezulla said that he was surprised by the decision of a “matured politician” like Mr. Deve Gowda to quit the Janata Dal (S) and join the BJP.

He accused Mr. Deve Gowda of joining the BJP for the sake of power. “Had he believed in secular ideals, he would have joined the BSP” he said.

He said the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and president of the BSP, Mayawati, would visit the State and participate in convention in Bangalore on December 23. “Many leaders, who are disappointed by the political developments in the State, will join the BSP on the occasion,” he added.

The BSP would welcome all those who accepted its ideals and principles. More than 30,000 people from Mysore district would participate in the rally. The district unit would organise a ward-wise rally on December 15 and many leaders would join the BSP, he said.

Mr. Azeezulla said the people were disgusted with the Janata Dal (S), BJP and the Congress which had failed in meeting the aspirations of the people. Now, the people were pinning their hopes on the BSP.

He said farmers were not getting remunerative prices for their produce. Many had committed suicide as they were unable to clear their loans. The entry of multinational companies had affected the local traders. The BSP would fight for the cause of farmers, he added.
