A nostalgia-filled silver jubilee school notes

Landmark: Neena Monnappa, the first principal of Sree Cauvery School, Indiranagar, lighting the lamp at the silver jubilee celebrations.

BANGALORE: Nostalgia was in the air at the silver jubilee celebrations and the annual day of Sree Cauvery School, Indiranagar.

Former principals, teachers and students retraced their steps to the portals of the school that was started in a tin shed in 1982 with just 40 students on its rolls.

While the former principals recalled their years in the school as leaders, the old students relived the euphoric moments of their school life.

The contributions of the former principals and teachers were recalled, and they were presented with mementos. Neena Monnappa, the first principal, recalled the good support she received from parents and also some of the funniest moments at the school during her tenure. Co-founder of Janaagraha Ramesh Ramanathan presented the mementos.

A heritage museum that showcases traditional costumes, implements and other items collected from the rural areas of Kodagu was inaugurated on the occasion.

Principal Geetha Rao read out the annual school report, while vice-principal Ranee Thimmaiah welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. Chairman of the Kodava Samaja Education Council P. S. Appaiah and other committee members were present.

Aquatic meet

The 27th inter-house aquatic meet of Baldwin Girls’ High School was held recently. The meet began with an opening march past led by president of the school council Sheyma Noorain, sports captain Shrujana Ambati, swimming captain Neha Arun and primary swimming captain Sheethal Prakash.

Students participated in various events such as freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and freestyle relay.

Arhata Meghavi was given the “Swim Queen of the Meet” trophy.

Principal Indira Williams, games mistress Joyce Nathan, and manager Vasantha Bhaskar were present.
